A Web Media Colossus

A web media colossus

We have compiled a list of many alternative media that have a point of view different than mainstream media. The list can include more sites. It is a lot, more than enough. It does not have to be thousands of them. Instead, traffic (i.e. visitors) needs to be directed towards them.

Although they are generally on the same side in terms of politics, they are business competitors. The assumption is that each one does its best to promote itself with the usual ways. It is like looking for a needle in the haystack since there are millions of sites in the web. There also may be a built in bias in the algorithm of search engines and social media so that these sites (alternative media) have a disadvantage.

One way of promoting and at the same time creating a web media giant is by using subdomains. You can buy a (or use an existing) domain e.g. altmedia.com or colossus.com and then create subdomains like JohnDoeShow.altmedia.com. These subdomains can be different sites. The subdomain itself is not the site but the address of the site. Then you can have a directory in www.altmedia.com or even better in altmedia.com that lists all the subdomains/sites. An address with a www prefix is technically a subdomain.

The traffic on each subdomain/site can be measured separately. It can be administered as a separate site in everything (advertising etc). A site can have thousands of pages. The same can be done in other countries as well. If the storage space is big, it can be done under the same domain e.g. JamesSmith.altmedia.com in UK. Otherwise altmedia.uk or altmedia.co.uk could be used as the domain in UK. The old address can redirect to the new one. If John Doe had JohnDoeShow.com, anyone who visits that will be redirected to JohnDoeShow.altmedia.com.

This is an online technological consolidation that does not require a legal consolidation of the companies and individuals which may take a long time. Some minor legal issues regarding ownership of domain and subdomains can be easily solved. Legal consolidation is worth examining but is not necessary. In the meantime, a web consolidation can be done asap.

This way you can create a web media colossus, unparallel to anything that now exists. Visitors will not be able to tell if behind it is one company or several small companies and individuals. As a matter of fact, visitors do not care much if it is a sole company or a network of affiliated companies and individuals.

A video (or audio) site is not a privilege of only YouTube. A video site is like any other site and anybody can have a video site. The difference is that it requires a lot more storage space and faster servers. The monthly fee is much higher than an ordinary server but still reasonable. Videos and audios can be uploaded there instead of YouTube, Rumble and audio sharing platforms (podcast platforms). Text, photos, videos and audios can be in one site.

“A pc or laptop cannot be compared to a TV in terms of viewing comfort and pleasure”.

Some people may make this claim. There are two ways to go about this. One is a big size computer screen with remote mouse and keyboard. In this case only Internet will be available but viewing will be comfortable and pleasurable like watching TV.

The other alternative is smart TV where the regular TV program is also available in addition to Internet. Smart TVs sell in electronics stores and their price is reasonable. Many people do not know these (large computer screen and smart TV) and it should be explained thoroughly in articles, videos or podcasts by media sites that have many visitors (the media colossus if it materializes).
