Roman ancestry myth
Roman ancestry myth
Byzatnine Empire originated from the division of Roman Empire but was the continuation of Hellenistic Empires or kingdoms. Roman ancestry in Byzantines was insignificant. Byzantines were mixed. Initially, they were mainly Hellenes, Thracians and Illyrians. Later Slavs were also added in the mix. These were the four main ancestral lines but there was also mix with all the people that lived in the Empire.
Byzantine mix can be depicted in the ancestry of the first and last emperors. The last emperor was Constantine Dragases Palaiologos. Before him, his brother John was the emperor. Their father was Manuel, also emperor, a Greek from Asia Minor. The middle name of John and Constantine Palaiologos was Dragases from their mother, Serbian noblewoman Helena Dragas Dejanovic. Serbs were initially a Slavic tribe but mixed with local people, Illyrians, Thracians and Hellenes.
Byzantine Empire's first emperor was Constantine the Great. His mother Helena was Greek from Bithynia in Asia Minor. His father Constantius was Illyrian from Moesia. WESTERN EUROPEAN NWO PROPAGANDA intentionally CONFUSES ROMAN CITIZENSHIP with ROMAN ANCESTRY. Constantius was not only a Roman citizen but a Roman emperor, one of the four members in the Tetrarchy established by Diocletian.
However, he was not Roman but Illyrian. Roman citizenship and Roman ancestry were two different things. Most Roman citizens did not have Roman ancestry. The intentional confusion between Roman citizenship and Roman ancestry relates to another myth created by Western European NWO propaganda. According to this myth, EASTERN EUROPEANS have SIGNIFICANT ROMAN ANCESTRY.
This is ENTIRELY INCORRECT for two reasons. ROMANS did NOT MIGRATE to the REST of Roman Empire. They only SENT TROOPS. A small percentage of Roman troops had Roman ancestry. Like Roman citizens, Roman army was from all over Roman Empire. There were three ways Roman army could mix with locals, rape, affair, marriage. Roman troops were not better or worse than other troops. They raped local women.
Some had affairs while stationed in Eastern Europe. Few stayed, married local women and mixed with local population. There was indeed some mix with Roman soldiers but this was very small. Furthermore, most Roman soldiers were not from Rome or surrounding areas. They were from all over Roman Empire. They may as well have been from other areas of Eastern Europe.
The myth that Eastern Europeans have singnificant Roman ancestry is incorrect. WESTERN EUROPEANS may have SUBSTANTIAL Italian (Roman) ANCESTRY but not because of Roman Empire. There was plenteous interaction among Western Europeans for many centuries, after Roman Empire. That resulted in mingling and mixing. People in Western Europe have substantial Roman (Italian) ancestry but mixing occured mostly after Roman period.
There were only TWO significant MIXES due to MIGRATION in Europe, Germanic people (Germans and Scandinavians) with Celts and Slavs with Greco-Thraco-Illyrians. Large numbers of Germanic people moved into Celtic territory. Likewise, large numbers of Slavic people moved into Greco-Thraco-Illyrian territory. There was also noticable MIX through INTERACTION. There was interaction among Western Europeans and interaction among Eastern Europeans but not much between Western and Eastern Europeans.
There is another myth regarding mixing with Italians (Romans), specifically for Hellenes (Greeks). There is an expression in Italian "una faccia, una razza'" meaning ”one face, one race”. It suggests that there is so much MIXING between ITALIANS and GREEKS (Hellenes) that they became one race. This is ENTIRELY INCORRECT. Contemporary HELLENES are CLOSE RACIALLY (ethnically) to the rest of the PEOPLE in GRECO-THRACO-ILLYRIAN territory, from Cyprus and Crete to southern Ukraine and Slovakia.
It is undeniable that there has been some mixing between Hellenes and Italians but how much that mix was is questionable. Perhaps there is confusion created with Greco-Roman civilization. Roman civilization had very strong influence from (Greek) Hellenic. So in Roman civilization, there was not only significant mix with Hellenic but something a lot more than significant. But this does not imply that there has been significant mix between the people.
First of all, ancient Hellenes and Romans were not racially related. Most likely, ancient Hellenes were racially related with Thracians and Illyrians. It is historically proven that Hellenic tribes came from North. Northern of Hellas was the land of Thracians and Illyrians. According to a reasonable and probably correct theory, ancient Hellenes belonged in the same branch of Caucasian people with Thracians and Illyrians.
There were a few instances in history when Italians and Hellenes mixed. In ancient times, Greeks (Hellenes) had many colonies in southern Italy. Most people remained and gradually became Romans (Italians). But this affects the ancestry of contemporary Italians, not Greeks. Next mixing was during Roman rule of Hellas. As it was explained above, mixing during Roman period was not much. Roman soldiers were not from Rome but from all areas of Roman Empire.
After the sack of Consantinople by Western European Crusaders in 1204 AD, Byzantines recaptured Constantinople in 1261 AD. But they were not able to get back all territory. A part of contemporary Hellas was under Venetian rule when the rest was under Ottoman rule. That lasted for centuries. When Ottomans sacked Constantinople in 1453 AD, Byzantine upper class fled abroad.
Most chose Russia because Byzantine Empire had very close relations with Kievan Russes. Some went to Western Europe as well, mainly to Italy. According to some sources, around one third of people in Venice were Byzantines. They did not go only to Venice but to other Italian cities as well. Again, this affects the ancestry of contemporary Italians, not Greeks.
Hellenes certainly mixed with Italians but not as much as with other people, Thracians, Illyrians, Slavs. Hellenic civilization had a strong influence on Roman but not the opposite. Something similar may have occured with racial/ethnic mix between Italians and Greeks. Italians may have more Greek ancestry than Greeks have Italian. Compared to other Eastern Europeans, contemporary Greeks probably have more Italian (Roman) ancestry but this is not significant.
It is absolutely necessary Western Europe to be separated from Eastern. The minimum separation required is to be in different Groups. That is a red line in AntiNWO's plan. It is preferable if Western and Eastern Europe are in different Coalitions. That is in feasible combination. Nevertheless, it is acceptable to be in the same Coalition or even Subcoalition, like in compromising combination.
